Or do you credit everything in your life to coincidence?
Coincidence is defined as “a remarkable concurrence of events or circumstances without apparent causal connection.”
Is this not what a miracle is?
Miracles happen every day of our lives. Those who have eyes to see them can see them, those who do not falsely give credit to coincidence. Many falsely believe that a miracle must be grandiose, large in scale and immediately recognizable. Miracles are most often small and simple, the Lord uses small and simple events to provide the daily miracles in our lives that we are all entitled to.
Many years ago I began making a conscious decision to recognize the small wonderful miracles occurring each and everyday of my life. Sometimes it was as simple as finding a few dollars when I desperately needed it, (not simple at the time) to making every light on the way to a new job interview. I replaced my thoughts of thinking of them as coincidence and giving credit with gratitude and thanksgiving to my Heavenly Father. This decision has been instrumentally powerful in my life as I am now more clearly prepared to recognize and receive miracles as they occur, and as I need them most. I am able to ask for them with a knowledge and assurance that they will be granted in proper time. I have seen it many times over in my life.
I do believe that in this decision of mine to give credit to my Father in Heaven for the miracles in my life, no matter how small they might seem has allowed me to receive the much greater blessings and miracles that He truly desires to give us. Our acts of gratitude and recognition of our Heavenly Father actually provides a greater increase in our lives, more than we can ever truly repay.
This past week in my life I was blessed to receive from my Father in Heaven, a grand miracle, one that truly impacts my life and my health. The surgery that I had carried an extremely small chance of death, yet the outcome of my surgery held a higher chance of death, than the miracle I received.
Miracles continue to happen each day of our lives. By recognizing the small, we can better prepare ourselves receive the big ones in our lives. Give credit to our Father in Heaven and recognize his hand in all things and the world will open to you.
Fear is probably the single biggest cause for failure in our lives. It is most often accompanied by worry and doubt. When these are present in our lives we cripple our ability to excel and thrive. We create our own obstacles and stop our progression. Fear will usually cause a fight or flight reaction. More often than not, the majority of people will fly. They run and hide from the fear instead of fighting it. While hiding from our fear, we begin to doubt ourselves and worry about the future. Instead of taking control of our future, we cripple it.
I understand that many of us have some real fears in our lives, these can be more challenging and difficult to overcome. We also each maintain many fears that are not only self created, but unfounded. We may fear for a family member and their struggles, or a fear of losing a job that we already have. This creates many times a self fulfilling prophecy, we fear we will lose our job, the worry and doubt in our abilities that accompanies the fear impact our abilities and performance in our job and we then create our own dismissal from our employment as a result. We bring to pass our own fears into reality. We may fear getting ill and the worry and doubt that accompanies it as we hyper focus on it in turn truly makes us sick, again we fulfill our own fears. These are just a couple of examples that lead to the fulfillment of our own self imposed fears.
Conversely, hope and belief can create an opposite effect. As we hope for a better life and believe that we deserve one, when our actions align with those beliefs we will open doors for ourselves that will lead to our own success. The old adage, if we can dream it, we can achieve it,.. this is true yet belief must accompany the dream for us to achieve those dreams. I have many acquaintances whom believe that they do not deserve anything better than what they have achieved or been given. This becomes true for them as they never move beyond what they have.
I remember as a young man starting out in my career for a whopping $4.75 per hour. I was happy because it was not the grocery store where I had been working prior for a mere $3.25 an hour. I had taken a step forward and I knew in my heart and believed unequivocally in myself that I would excel in this career and do very well for myself. I exceeded the expectations of everyone around me and created through hard work and my self belief tremendous success in my career. My success in my career became an anchor in my life and a road map in overcoming obstacles and challenges. Each time fear would show its ugly head I would fight it, face it and conquer it. I never allowed the doubt to accompany the fear and each time worry would enter my mind, I eliminated as soon as I was able to clearly identify why I was worried.
We can can achieve anything we want in this life with hard work and belief in ones self. In order to do so we must eliminate fear, doubt and worry from our lives. The future is ours to design and create. What we choose to bring with us will determine the level of success and happiness we achieve.
Believing in yourself is far more important than anyone else’s belief in you.
As a child, my parents instilled into us to believe in ourselves and in our own abilities. These lessons have strengthened me and enabled me to accomplish many things that at times others thought impossible.
My love and passion for photography began when I was a very young man of 13. As I continued with this hobby, I ended up taking some amazing pictures and became desirous to copyright and sell them. At the age of seventeen I set out to publish my first photograph. Many people told me along the way, how great my pictures were but that I would never be able to sell them. How would a seventeen year old with no connections be able to pull it all together? I had been raised to believe that I could accomplish anything I wanted, the naysayers only fueled my desire to accomplish this goal that I had set my mind to. I was able to obtain a copyright, mass produce the picture, obtain a distributor and sell the picture, before my 18th birthday. Imagine the excitement when I was able to walk into the BYU Bookstore and see my photography on the shelf for the public. It was an exhilarating experience. One that I will never forget.
When I decided to write my first novel, I was again met with skepticism by others. I can’t even begin to tell you how many people told me that everyone wants to write a book, not very many ever finish them. Determined I set out to finish this novel. When I completed it, I was excited to have finished such a large goal, the first one took me a couple years to complete and edit. When I completed this effort, I received some very sound advice from a friend of mine who was a very well known and seasoned author, to take pride in the fact that I had completed something that many people start, but only few complete. The only persons opinion of the novel that mattered was my own, that there would be those who would find fault with it and those who would like it. The only thing that mattered was my belief in myself. It was my first attempt at writing something on that large of a scale, my friend reminded me that there would be criticism, which of course there was. It didn’t matter to me at the time, I had completed what I had set out to do and it was the exact story that I had wanted to tell. I self published this novel and my next 3 novels, specifically for my family and friends.
There have been many more experiences in my life from personal issues to promotions at work, to starting my own company, when the need to believe in myself regardless of whether anyone else believed in me made the difference. Life is full of those individuals, sometimes the closest ones in your life, who will always find discouragement in your endeavors and will create roadblocks to your goals. It is your belief in yourself that will create the strength to rise above the noise in our lives. There will always be those who intentionally or unintentionally hold us back from being the success we are destined to be, through their unbelief, which Is generally their own self doubt projected upon others.
Rise above the noise, believe in yourself and remove others self doubts in themselves from holding you back, you deserve to fly without the shackles that others would place upon us.
I believe in God! I believe in my Savior Jesus Christ! This is who I am. I have many deeply held beliefs and my life has been greatly blessed as a result of my standing firm in what I believe. I have endured many verbal assaults against me and what I believe lately, by some who have been considered my friends, and others by total strangers. I have been told I am a vile human being and delusional because I believe in something.
I will never make apologies for my beliefs! Some of them are,
I Believe in GOD
I Believe in Jesus Christ
I Believe in the Atonement
I Believe in the sanctity of human life, this includes the unborn children
I Believe in the sacredness of the marriage covenant and families
I Believe in honor
I Believe in fidelity
I Believe this nation is a blessed land
I Believe in small government
I Believe in conservative values
I Believe in the freedoms to worship and in others rights to believe differently
I Believe in acceptance and tolerance
I Believe in the constitution and rights under the bill of rights.
I Believe in hard work and discipline
I Believe in Charity
I Believe in kindness
I Believe in self reliance
These are merely some of my beliefs and I will make no excuses to anyone for them. There will undoubtedly be those who will find it necessary to mock some or all of these beliefs. Trust me. I have heard them all before. Those who choose to mock, I feel sorry for. The mockery of anyone’s beliefs is evidence of a lost individual who has no solid ground to stand on with their own personal beliefs, for many have none.
If you are threatened by my beliefs ask yourself why, don’t attack me for standing for something. You are free to believe differently. I would actually love to hear differing beliefs. You are free to state them, in a positive and effective manner. I have found however, that many people will feel the need to make some pointless statement about any of these beliefs in an effort to disparage or attack me for mine. If believing in God, having values, believing in something, helping others, giving to charity, and standing for what I believe to be true makes me a vile human being as I have been called, then I gladly accept the title, it is not your acceptance I seek or need.
