Relics of Yesterday

gratitude1

HONOR; TRUST; INTEGRITY;
Relics of yesterday
Distrust and public scandal
Engulf us everyday
Apathy of our people
Politicians corrupt with greed
Destruction of a nation
And warnings failed to heed
A world so torn asunder
Through politics and sin
A division in a nation
Despair that we live in
Now two roads left before us
Or hope or endless woe
Embrace our founding doctrines
Or history’s footnote we will sow

  1. I like what you said, and the picture to go with it! Great rhyming scheme and iambic pentameter! You certainly have compacted neatly what’s on everyone’s mind these days: ‘What are we going to do about it?’ I mean besides the brave souls who must sacrifice themselves because we sit back and do nothing.

    • Thank you! I agree with you. Many of us will just sit back and do nothing.

I for one have gotten more vocal and involved in the local and state level. I have made my voice heard with my representatives and will continue to be a voice. I am willing and prepared to stand for the rights of my children and family.

  2. Nice lyrical poem. Enjoyed reading it and the imagery. However, it made me wonder if yester-years were any different from today’s… The struggles and lives were the same ain’t it? 🙂
    Cheers n tc.
